Another day, another supergroup from Housecore, right? Only unlike the ’90s Scandinavian black metal assault we heard yesterday from Scour, Honky—featuring members of Butthole Surfers and Melvins (JD Pinkus) and Down (Bobby Ed Landgraf)—has decidedly less boogie man and simply more boogie within their sound. In fact, this taste from their forthcoming new LP Corduroy (out May 27) actually features Melvins drummer Dale Crover behind the kit, is so goddamn ZZ Top-inspired that it’s borderline inappropriate for the extremely extreme crowd.
“Only when the Mighty Dale Crover is jammin’ with Honky, ya gotta decide whether to listen to the background harmonies or triangle solo,” Pinkus tells Decibel. “He is a monster on the triangle.”
You can judge “Double Fine” for yourself below. And if you happen to be located in the UK or Texas (quick quiz: which is larger?), you can see pale Honkey flesh up close and personal this summer (dates after the track).
