Where they from?
Palermo, Italy. I know there’s this election happening right now that’s kind of dominating everyone’s attention (oh, look, another spam text!) but let’s not lose sight of what really matters in life: the abysmal play of the New York Jets. On Sunday I watched them incur a delay of game penalty on a two-point conversion attempt. Do you know how asinine that is? Not even Adam Gase would pull shit like that. We had a better record at this point in the season with ZACH FUCKING WILSON. There is no hope, darkness descends. Everything they touch turns to garbage.
Why the hype?
Normally when I hear a band described as having an “old-school” sound it’s a major red flag. It’s basically extreme metalese for “recycled Obituary riffs with spooky vocals.” But I can’t state how impressed I am with Eraser’s old-school grindcore attack. It’s like equal parts Repulsion and From Enslavement to Obliteration but with modern musicianship (ie not sloppy) and it also has what so many “old-school” bands lack and that’s a genuine sense of energy and focus. The only other group I can think of that pulls off a similar combination is Spain’s Looking For an Answer.
Latest Release?
Harmony Dies, self-released. This is probably one of the most complete grindcore full-lengths of the year. If you are a fan of grindcore’s origins (I’m sure a lot of you are) than you really need to check this shit out. And if you are Aaron Rodgers, I just think you should know that you are a bad person.
