Album Premiere: Coffins – ‘Defilements’

For over 20 years, Coffins have been crushing out crusty death metal. The Japanese hellbringers have been prolific, with over 25 split releases and EPs to go with their splatter of full-length albums. With such restless creative energy, it can be tough to keep up with their deranged discography. Luckily, we have Horror Pain Gore Death Productions to help gather the gory goods. Granted access to the band’s vault, HGPD are ready to release a double-CD compilation called Defilements on January 22nd.

Designed and approved by vocalist/guitarist Uchino, Defilements is nearly two hours of deep cuts from their out of print EP releases. There’s the cesspool grooves from Craving to Eternal Slumber and March of Despair. The clandestine recordings from their Noise Room Sessions 2014 release. The feral stage energy of Live at Asakusa Deathfest 2016. Then there’s the curdled covers from the band’s Sewage Sludgecore Treatment, where the band reanimates songs by Eyehategod, Noothgrush and more. Coffins never stay quiet for long. Press play and your speakers won’t stay quiet either.

Crawl into the casket with Coffins and shut the lid for the next two hours.
