Greetings, Decibel readers!
Lots of death metal this week: dissonant, straightforward, and even some melodeath! But don’t worry, if that’s not your thing there’s a new Heavy Temple album out as well. Off to the desert with you!

Benighted – Ekbom
Slickly produced brutality that delivers all manner of punishment. Lots of flair on display here, from the sweep picking, to the machine-gun drums, to the various vocal techniques.

Heavy Temple – Garden of Heathens
Heavy and trippy in equal measure. This opus to the gods of doom is Heavy Temple‘s second album, following up 2021’s Lupi Amoris.

Necrot – Lifeless Birth
Straightforward meat-and-potatoes death metal from one of Decibel‘s favorite practitioners. Necrot‘s latest album displays all the elements of grinding, crushing, and pulverizing intensity that fans of Obituary, Master, and Vader should all appreciate.

Replicant – Infinite Mortality
Dissonant death metal devastation from New Brunswick, New Jersey. Very much on the Gorguts, Demilich, and Ulcerate side of things, this is essentially the final boss music in the most terrifying game you can imagine.

Veriteras – The Dark Horizon
I say this a lot, but this style never really goes out of style for me. If it’s not overproduced, melodic death metal really can do no wrong with me. If you’re a fan of The Gallery-era Dark Tranquility (as you should be) this will be music for all your fears.
