Greek doom outfit Acid Mammoth are primed to release Caravan, their third LP, this March via psychedelic experts Heavy Psych Sounds, with the title track streaming now via Decibel. Their third album in four years, Caravan continues the band’s legacy of loud-as-fuck, psychedelic doom that sounds as if it were conjured from an acid trip as much as the Marshall amplifiers behind the band members in the accompanying video for “Caravan.”
Riffmaster generals Chris Babalis Sr. and Chris Babalis Jr. handle guitar duties, with the younger Babalis also lending his vocals to the track. Acid Mammoth take their time getting around the track, moving at a slow pace and being sure to get lost in the riffs and solos over the course of the mammoth 11-minute offering.
“‘Caravan’ is the title track of our upcoming third full-length album and it represents fully what the new album is about,” Acid Mammoth collectively tell Decibel. “This 11-minute giant features crushing riffs reeking of fuzz and elephantine drumming, mesmerizing vocals and mountainous bass lines. It is a product of witchcraft, a trance-inducing journey into the black void. Beware, for this horde of gargantuan beasts comes raging towards you with the force of a thousand black orbs!”
Arm yourself for battle against gargantuan beasts and press play on “Caravan” below. Pre-orders for Caravan’s March 5 release are availaable here.
