Wolf King descended upon the scene metal scene in 2018 with their first full-length, Loyal to the Soil. It was a large evolution from their debut EP, Into the Infinite, expanding upon the extreme metal element of their sound and fusing it with rambunctious hardcore. On their second album, The Path of Wrath, they continue to merge those sounds in a pot of blackened angst.
Hot on the heels of the announcement comes the official video for “Sanctuary,” a track you may have heard on Decibel‘s Completely Extreme: Volume One vinyl collaboration with Record Store Day. “Sanctuary” shows the most metal side of Wolf King yet, featuring some thrashy riffs and growled vocals, but there’s still plenty of mosh left in the Bay Area quartet.
“The Path of Wrath tells of a collective journey through the turmoils and tribulations of life,” Wolf King explain. “Filmed during our last tour in March with Vale of Pnath, ‘Sanctuary’ takes on the perspective of realizing that the only way to escape this wretched world is through death’s cold hands. We’re born without choice, forced to endure suffering, and find clarity through lifelessness.
“We’re ecstatic to premiere this video with Decibel Magazine. Being able to be apart of their Completely Extreme RSD release is an absolute privilege and we hope you enjoy what we conjured up.”
Watch “Sanctuary” now. The Path of Wrath is out March 5, 2021 on Prosthetic. Completely Extreme: Volume One is on sale here.
