Active since 2015, the Greek black metal trio calling themselves Isolert play an especially taut and moody form of atmospheric black metal. With all three members getting their raw violent tendencies out of the way with their other band Sørgelig, Isolert, especially on their latest full-length album, World in Ruins (out 11/11/20) focus on the dynamic possibilities of the genre, rather than appeasing the elder gods with a rigid adherence to its foundational rules. In other words, Isolert make black metal they want to hear in the world.
