Ordinance = Chaos, noise, dissonance and black fire. Emerging from the depths of Helsinki’s frozen underworld are duo — Lauri Laaksonen (drums) and Arttu Ratilainen (guitars, vocals, bass) — Ordinance. Imagine if you will a revisit to Satyricon’s The Shadowthrone, Beherit’s Drawing Down the Moon, and Setherial’s Nord, but with updated spirit and determination. That’s what you’ll find bubbling under and striking forward on Ordinance’s much-anticipated second album, In Purge There Is No Remission. Tracks like “Obstructed Paths,” “Diabolopathia,” and “Credo Sceleratum” drill deep into the psyche, laying bare the darkness in all of us.
Says Ordinance: “Partly, this album continues right from where we were left with the previous one [Relinquishment], while it also takes a deliberate step towards sheer aggression and more vicious songwriting with equally diabolical lyrics and ferocious performance. It is rather a product of compulsive neurosis than that of mere petty artistic ambition.”
Join us, oh scelerāta!, in this celebration of black (internal) storms that is Ordinance’s In Purge There Is No Remission.
