Stoner metal trio Black Rainbows are back and their new album could level their hometown of Rome with the wall of sound unleashed on seventh album Cosmic Ritual Supertrip. Beginning with a rousing, foot-stomping guitar/drums combo before launching into the bluesy meat of the track, Black Rainbows inject a ton of feeling and personality into “Isolation.” Black Rainbows channel a ’70s doom feel—fitting, seeing as Black Sabbath’s genre-creating debut turns 50 today. Cosmic Ritual Supertrip is familiar, but it stands out in a sea of Sabbath and Sleep impersonators.
