Video Premiere: Orphans of Doom – “New Ishtar”

Orphans of Doom began as a trio in 2016. Two years later the Missourian heavy psychmanglers released an 8 track powerload debut called Strange Worlds/Fierce Gods. At some point last year, the Orphans of Doom recruited a bassist, while vocalist Jeremy Isaacson switched from bass to guitar.  According to the band’s most recent biographical materials, the material being written for their sophomore album necessitated this move.

Orphans of Doom’s will release their sophomore album II on February 28th. A dark horse approaches in the form of heavy as literal hell, sludged-out psychedelic doom bliss. Without giving away too much, it’s easy to hear why II took four musicians to wield it. For now, enjoy this video for the opening track from II

“New Ishtar is about being pushed to rediscover yourself,” says Isaacson. “To accept that you need purpose and the drive to achieve it.” From director Joshua Wilkinson, this is “New Ishtar.”
