You all know all about sludge metal, death metal, black metal and good old fashion no labels heavy metal. Columbus, Ohio’s Bather do too, and instead of (or maybe in addition to) bitching about codification on the internet to an audience of few, they’ve stirred all that knowledge into a steaming cauldron of loud and raunchy vein-slashing metallic darkness. In the short while the band has existed, they’ve issued a self-titled EP from earlier this year and are about to enter Bricktop Recording Studio in Chicago to lay down their debut full-length.
In the meantime, they’ve paired their smarts in various fields of metal with blood, boobs and bondage in their latest visual feast for the eyes, “Birds,” a video which was apparently made expressly for me, if not made via hidden cameras in my basement. In all actuality, this display of lecherously luscious violence and soul-stripping metal was captured by Josh and Nicky Richter. The performance footage was done by Cody Detty and edited by Nicky Richter and your performers/loving couple are Jon Murray and Madison Arledge.
“Birds is our second video from our debut self titled release,” comes the band’s emailed response about the video. “All filming, directing, and editing were done by our guitarist and vocalist. We wanted to keep things simple and DIY for our first release to challenge ourselves and portray exactly what we want as a band.”
Bather’s full self titled record is available on all online retailers including Spotify and Apple Music.
