Decibel has never shied from our love of Bad Religion. Six years ago, we inducted their punk rock game-changer Suffer into the Decibel Hall of Fame and just last month, we awarded their latest record, Age of Unreason, an 8 out of 10. So, yeah, even though they’re more like “Dad Religion” these days, Bad Religion are still close to hearts. Apparently Tampa melodic death dealers The Absence feel much the same, as the band has recorded a crushing cover of a Cali-punk classic “Do What You Want” (taken from BR’s aforementioned Suffer LP), which will be available exclusively as a cassingle (!) on the band’s upcoming tour with Deicide. Drummer Jeramie Kling knows what’s best for you.
“’Do What You Want’ is named accordingly,” he tells Decibel. “Fuck norms, fuck stigmas, fuck walls, do what you want. Makes sense to us, bang your head! Special thanks for our friend Stanley Soares for mixing this bastard!”
