Video Premiere: Gomorrah – ‘Frailty’

Canadian death-dealing duo Gomorrah found a mighty ally for their second, untitled full-length (NSFW cover art below): drummer Hannes Grossmann, whose impressive history includes current or former stints with Triptykon, Hate Eternal, Necrophagist, Obscura and Alkaloid, plus a handful of production credits. For Gomorrah’s album, Grossmann linked with guitarist Bowen Matheson and vocalist Jeff Bryan to let loose a groovy, downtuned death metal behemoth. The thick production—mix and master courtesy of Grossmann—causes new song “Frailty” (watch below) to hit like a pillowcase full of bricks.

Chunky, low riffs are met with machinelike blast beats and Bryan’s super-low gutturals, flattening the listener in under three minutes.

“I am really excited to be a part of this project, as a producer, because this is actually the stuff I like,” Grossmann says. “Not just in the brutality of the music but taking into consideration it is a unique style they are playing. It is not like what you heard before, it has death metal and black metal elements but also grindcore, jazz and weird soundscapes. It is a unique mixture and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

Gomorrah will release their new album digitally and on wax via No Light Records on March 22.
