Renowned death metal supergroup Bloodbath have confirmed their fifth full-length, The Arrow of Satan is Drawn, for an October 26 release via Peaceville. Their second album with Paradise Lost’s Nick Holmes on vocals, the band describe the album as an ode to humanity’s seemingly-impending demise.
In addition to Holmes, Bloodbath’s current lineup is bassist Jonas Renkse and guitarist Anders “Blakkheim” Nyström (Katatonia), drummer Martin Axenrot (Opeth) and second guitarist Joakim Karlsson (Craft).
The Arrow of Satan is Drawn was recorded by Bloodbath and Karl Daniel Liden at Ghost Ward, City Of Glass & Tri-Lamb Studios in the first half of 2018.
“What are we presenting with this album? Humanity’s unfaltering march prone towards downfall,” Blakkheim states. “The threat to this world isn’t from far beyond the sun, the enemy is right here, within the walls. Only the god of emptiness will survive us all. The arrow of Satan is drawn!”
Second track “Bloodicide” features guest appearances from Jeff Walker (Carcass), Karl Willetts (Memoriam, Bolt Thrower) and John Walker (Cancer), which probably makes it the goriest song in Bloodbath’s career. No music has been revealed yet, but you can check out the album art and tracklist below. Pre-orders are live now.
