Video Premiere: Ancestors – ‘Gone’

July 26, 2018 Emily Bellino
Streaming, Videos ancestors, Doom, music video, pelagic, Post Metal, premiere.

Los Angeles doom trio Ancestors have gone six years without releasing new music, their last album 2012’s In Dreams and Time. They’ll release their new album, Suspended in Reflections, in August via post-metal-centric label Pelagic.

In the downtime, Ancestors have further embraced the atmospheric and progressive side of their sound, focusing more on soundscapes and emotive playing than crushingly heavy riffs played for the purpose of being heavy, like with new song “Gone,” which features a ritualistic video that enhances the mood of the song.

Ancestors tell Decibel that “Gone” was shot in the desert of Southern California, and that they chose imagery from dreams and visions to elicit  a strong emotional response when watching the music video.

The heavier we became, the more people around us denied us any support. There wasn't an extreme metal scene.
