Czech Republic’s most active, adventurous, and influential band, Root, are almost in their third decade. Formed in 1987, when their country and the world was in a different place, Root nevertheless managed to emanate outward from their industrial home of Brno. They followed, mostly in obscurity, in the footsteps of Celtic Frost, Venom, and Bathory. They were black metal before black metal was reborn anew in the North.
“As always in our history as a band, we aim to deliver a unique album, something that will stand out and shine its own light in our discography. Expect dark metal at its best, along with some surprising elements. We’ve recorded one fully acoustic song and one entirely instrumental. Overall, the album will include ten new tracks that will differ from our previous records.”
That’s right. Root are on their 10th full-length, titled Kärgeräs – Return from Oblivion. Throughout the album, the Czechs set new boundaries while exploring old ones. To some degree, Kärgeräs – Return from Oblivion is the closest to landmark album, The Book, while also being furthest away from it. To prove that point, we’ve teamed up with Agonia Records to premiere “Moment of Fright”, a killer track that has all of Root’s spectacular traits.
Bring on “Moment of Fright”!
