Details just got released today (unfortunately I'll likely be in Chicago when this happens):

The Planet Caravan festival is scheduled to take place at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC on September 18th - 19th.

Acts confirmed for the festival include: CLUTCH, PENTAGRAM, ORANGE GOBLIN, KYLESA, BURST, YOB, WINO, ASTRA, REVOLUTION MOTHER, TADDY PORTER, ORCHID and PICK UP THE SNAKE.

Tickets go on sale July 18th at 12 PM (EST) via The Orange Peel box office, by phone at 866-468-7630 and online at planetcaravanfestival.com.

“Planet Caravan is an homage to the pioneers of heavy music," says event creator Charlie Jennings. "The event spotlights bands that carry on
the traditional sounds of heavy rock and blues but also push it into new and exciting territories.”

Further details at planetcaravanfestival.com/, myspace.com/planetcaravanfestival.

I've often thought of organizing my own Planet Caravan Fest.
All bands are allowed to play nothing, but the song Planet Caravan.

Different Orchid.

Tickets are 80 bucks for two days, they better add a few more bands.

Just let things fall where they may folks. The line-up will get sweeter.

I mapquested Asheville and it's on the west side of NC near the TN border. I was hoping it would be closer to like Wilmington or Charlotte. :/

Asheville is a nice place, and the mountains of NC are amazing. It is also much closer to Chicago than the other 2 (if you are considering driving). Not too mention Asheville is a much cheaper place to get a room.

I wouldn't mind going to this, packaging a trip to the family sweetens the deal.

You need to stop telling me what I need to stop doing.

Asheville is nice but has a huge random population of street hippies. And for some reason bartenders aren't allowed to drink during their shifts, I don't know if that's a city thing or a state thing.

I'll take the hippies over the crunkcore kids any day. Asheville was being heavily considered for our next place to live (along with Wilmington as stated in the other thread), but the mama would prefer something closer to the ocean.

As for the bartender thing, at least it's not like PA where you have to can't buy beer in convenience stores, and you have to buy liquor at the "state store". I think I had my fill of PA. But this rant probably belongs elsewhere.

After moving from PA to a state with far more lax liquor laws, I was a kid in a candy shop for the first few months. "You mean I can buy whiskey at 7-11?!?" The funny thing is when I left Georgia to move to PA I thought I was escaping annoying blue laws. "You mean I don't have to drive to SC to buy booze on sunday?" little did I know.

You need to stop telling me what I need to stop doing.

This might actually be a possibility for me. I don't smoke weed, but I have a feeling there will be plenty of contact highs from being at this...
