Those of you who instinctively sniff the wind for the freshest über-brutal death metal should be familiar with Hour of Penance by now. Maybe you've been feeling a weird kinda tingle through your core mosh-muscle groups in anticipation of the imminent release of the Italians' fifth album, Sedition. Hour of Penance have got themselves a fairly hefty reputation for iconoclastic death metal that's very much on-message with the likes of Deicide and Behemoth, and musically in step with all the slam-happy shredded beef of Suffo' et al. Hailing from Rome, the long shadow of the Vatican clearly informs the whole antichristian credo with a sense of authenticity; like just how bummed out can you be from religious dogma when you live in the boondocks of the Sunshine State and count alligators for neighbours? Sedition's cover art appears to have nailed the album's concept, depicting two hyper-trophied serpents popping out of a storm cloud to chew through a couple of cathedrals... That's the sort of cinematic Clash of the Titans End of Days that would see the planet off in good style, way more dramatic than the world drowning under melted Polar ice caps or something. Bravo.
Courtesy of the good folk at Prosthetic you can debut "Decimate the Ancestry of the Only God" below. Sedition is released on 27th March, and "Decimate..." is kinda typical for an album that brings the blasphemy in HD, with some super-tight blasts and haunting melodies reminiscent of The Apostasy-era Behemoth. Be sure to check them out on their first US tour, which kicks off on 22nd March with a couple of shows with Nile before both bands hook up with The Black Dahlia Murder and Skeletonwitch and put some serious mileage on the tour bus' odometer.
