Wages of Din Contest Winner

Scott Seward here, noise fans. As many of you may or may not know, in between the reviews of bad metalcore albums and really bad nü-thrash records in Decibel, I have a tiny little column entitled Wages of Din. Every month it is my great fortune to hip you to some of the finest new noise/drone/avant garde/deep psych/electroacoustic/whatever music that I can find.
This year, I inaugurated the Wages of Din Challenge. I asked all non-musician Decibel readers to make some noise of any kind and send it to me. Many of you were too scared to do this. Without generalizing, I would have to say that most Decibel readers are a cowardly lot. But there was one among you, a giant among men, who stood out from the pack. But mostly he was the only person who took the time to make a half-ass photocopied cover for his CD-R, so he wins. His name: Daniel Luke (CORRECTION) Daniel Lake. Remember it! Because you will never ever hear that name again. (Unless you re-read this after the jump.)

Without further ado, I give you… whatever he called his project. I can’t remember what it was. But it’s actually pretty cool! And for his meager efforts, he wins a Din prize package from yours truly. Mostly just cruddy noise tapes that I had lying around. But, hey, in this economy, that’s better than nothing! Probably. Needless to say, so I’ll say it: if you make noise, hot spuzz, freak buzz, damaged sexviolencecore or anything else “non-metal” that would hurt my ears, or anything that would make me question my existence, and you want to be featured in a future edition of Wages of Din, feel free to email me: [email protected]. But if I hate your shit, don’t cry. Just try harder next time.
