Track Premiere: The Drip, “Anathema”

You’d think that after over 30 years of grindcore we would have learned that just because a band has “grind parts,” it doesn’t mean they’re actually grindcore. That’s not meant to me an insult to Washington’s the Drip; their grindy bits will jackhammer you into the fucking pavement. But it’s the band’s other arrangements — notably the massive Burnt by the Sun-esque breakdowns – that make a track like “Anathema” and instant winner. Or, according to guitarist Bobby Mansfield, it might something much sinister.

“The process of becoming a monster and the path of the dark arts and occult that lead to it. A crushing track from our new record, [The Haunting Fear of Inevitability].”

January 13th, 2017 will see the worldwide release of The Haunting Fear of Inevitability via Relapse Records on CD/LP/Digital formats. If you down with that track, physical and digital preorders and bundles are available via Relapse.com HERE and digital also via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other forms of technology I barely understand.
