Track Premiere: Akitsa, “Noire Bête Ailée”

Helmed by a fellow who goes by the name of Outre-Tombe, Akitsa is one of many bands to help create the fertile Québécois black metal underground that you see before you today. It just so happens Akitsa has a new full-length album Grands Tyrans coming out – its fifth, to be exact – this coming June 2 on New York’s great avant-garde label Hospital Productions. Typical of both Akitsa and Hospital Productions, you can expect a record rich in filth, with tracks that range from post-punk, to industrial, and of course, the requisite searing black metal pieces.

One of those straight-up black metal compositions is “Noire Bête Ailée” (translated as, “Black Winged Beast”), five and a half minutes of malevolent ferocity that effectively echo the early work of Burzum, from its hyperspeed melodic riff and the subtle underlying presence of synth. We’re more than glad to premiere the track so more folks can hear it – not just we leeches in the metal press – and hopefully you dig it as much as we do.

Grands Tyrans will be available in three different packages:

CD: deluxe foil block digipak CD with 12-page booklet
LP: deluxe foil block LP with printed inner sleeve and limited version of 100 units on picture disc LP

Cassette: deluxe foil block printed cassette cover with pro tape

In addition, Akitsa will be playing a pair of rare shows this summer, first on Day Two of Briefcasefest in Toronto on June 6 (more details here)  and at Berserktown II in Los Angeles August 14-16 (more details here).
