It’s been a while since that last update but so much has been going on that it’s a challenge to keep up! I guess that’s a good thing…
So we finished guitar overdubs in a couple of days and Jason cranked out a rough mix for us. Super stoked on the results so far. Certainly our heaviest and fastest album since The Ultra-Violence. Straight up metal on this one, we kept it focused on the energy and angst, believe me there has been plenty of fuel for that fire. Thank God for music so we could get our aggression out in a positive, productive way.

We had some shows booked before we began tracking the album, so this is the time where we broke off from the studio and hit the road. Very interesting as we have never divided the time recording an album before this. I think it worked out well because a break from the studio is a treat after months of jamming with no crowd! So this studio update is actually a tour update! [Laughs]

After departing from Florida we arrived home in the Bay Area for a couple of rehearsals for the tour. What a trip to play the older songs that we haven’t played for months, as we’ve been concentrating on the new songs since November. We put together a crushing set and in the blink of an eye we were on our way to Oslo, Norway to headline the second day of Inferno Fest. This is primarily a black metal festival and we were the bastard children of thrash here… Glad to report that we rocked the house in a big way! Our fans were there for us in full force and the black metal fans got turned on to some Bay Area thrash like only we and a handful of others can deliver. There is footage floating around online, check it out!

Next day we were on a plane bound for London and the start of our hellish UK Tour! Don’t get me wrong… Our fans kicked ass like they always do but logistically it was a nightmare. We were forced to rent a car at the airport and proceeded to drive ourselves around England from gig to gig on practically no sleep. Props to Mark and Ted for driving on the other side of the road / car for the first time. That was bizarre indeed. Of course, our rental gear was total shit as well. Just about everything with the gear was wrong. Shit was cutting out in the middle of every show, we had to borrow stuff from opening bands (thanks to all that helped out) and blah, blah, blah…

OK, thanks for letting me vent. On a good note, the fans gave it up as usual and we brought the thrash to Brighton, Reading, Leeds and Wrexham. Thanks to all our UK fans for coming out and having a good time with us!

The tour ended last night on a high note! We headlined the Sweden Rock Cruise on a huge vessel that started in Stockholm, went to Turku, Finland then back again. What a freak show! Everyone wasted by the time the ship left the dock at 7 p.m. and by the time we hit the stage at nearly 2 a.m. it was off the hook. We had a great set and the crowd rocked! To top it off I didn’t get seasick which I often do so all is good in the hood.

So now we have the day off at a hotel near the Stockholm airport and we depart tomorrow morning bound for home where we will have all of 12 hours to do laundry before we fly to Atlanta for a free show sponsored by Scion. The next day we fly to Hollywood for another free Scion sponsored show at the Roxy then Mark and I fly straight to Florida from L.A. to complete the recording.

I will check in again from the studio where we will be tracking vocals and guitar solos. Time to add the spice to the dish…
Until then, Skål!
