Priestess
Prior to the Fire
The ’90s throwback is gonna be something… | Tee Pee
The Montreal heshers in Priestess sure have to question the benevolence of the Powers That Be. When their debut Hello Master was all but ignored by their Canuck brethren, RCA signed them and gave the album a stateside release. Yeah, it took 10 months, but it paid off, and Priestess landed gigs with everyone from Megadeth to Mastodon. Irony of ironies, when follow-up Prior to the Fire was all set for delivery, RCA didn’t like what it heard. So, Priestess and RCA parted ways. That was in 2008. In October of last year, Prior to the Fire got a Canadian release. Now, America is finally hearing it, approximately two years after its completion, thanks to Tee Pee. —Jeanne Fury
