Giving Thanks For Brutality
Posted November 25 by Shawn Macomber
So I've come up with a few Thanksgiving themed metal and metal-ish vids for the holiday weekend. Hit me up with your picks in the comments section and I'll amend the post throughout the next couple days.
The first is a no-brainer:
I was super-psyched to find this live clip of His Hero is Gone locking down "Monuments to Thieves" from the seminal record of the same name--this posting is not a total endorsement of the band's politics, just FYI!:
No yams or taters without a "Harvester of Sorrow," after the jump with much more:
Like the dudes from Earth Crisis, I'll be eating processed, flavored soy protein tomorrow, not bird. Here's one of the first performances of a rough, rough "New Ethic" from 1994:
Whatever you're throwing on the table tomorrow it likely ain't as extreme as a "Bloodfeast":
I wanted to make a joke here about how Nasum' "Like Cattle" suggested they weren't fans of poultry, and maybe set it up against Converge's "Year of the Swine," but I can't find decent clips so I'll drop something else from the awesome Shift, "Wrath":
This Fugazi bit, meanwhile, obviously isn't metal, but it is lyrically hardcore and apropos:
And let's close this out with Opeth's "Dirge for November":
