Tatsu Mikami's (Church of Misery) Top 5 Serial Killers

Japan's Church of Misery never met a serial killer they didn't like. But they do have a few favorites who take precedence over others. Bassist Tatsu Mikami keeps numbers on who has been naughty and, well, extra naughty. Church explore perspectives from blood-sucking freaks, night stalkers and cannibals, all of which appropriately fit their '70s Black Sabbath worship groove. These vibrant lyrics make a Wikipedia entry on Richard Trenton Chase look dry. With every release, Church never fall short of expectations. As translated by guitarist Tom Sutton, Mikami briefly dissects his fascination with these top five killer identities.

1) Richard Ramirez
He just rocks. He was the rock star of the serial killing world. Drawing pentagrams on his palm, flashing the horns and he was an AC/DC fan. Rock.

2) Andrei Chikatilo
Now, there was something seriously wrong with this guy. I have a lot of serial killer videos, but this guy's trial video really stands out. You can see him dropping his pants, pulling his dick out, and blowing bubbles. And the eyes...truly spooky. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

3) Richard Chase
A modern-day drinker of human blood, also known as The Vampire of Sacramento. A megalomaniac who believed he was being followed by Nazis and UFOs, and that they were making his blood dry out, hence his need to drink the blood of first animals, then people. A true freak.

4) Charles Manson
I hesitated to put such a well-known killer on the list, but he's probably the most charismatic of all, so I couldn't resist. I really love listening to his famous 1967 album, Lie. It's a masterpiece of acid folk. Someday, we want to cover a song from it.

5) Peter Kürten
[He] should be well-known to fans of noise/industrial, as he was the inspiration for the album, Dedicated to Peter Kürten by the band Whitehouse, released on Whitehouse's own William Bennett's Come Organization label. Absolutely Germany's most brutal murderer.

Really no Albert Fish?

Charles Manson? He didn't even kill anyone himself. He had others do it. Agreed, Albert Fish should be on here.

Don't follow Church of Misery much, eh? They apparently thought enough of Fish to put him on the cover of their new record. Maybe he's #6...

No Jefrey Dahmer, no Ted Bundy.

Fish should be on there solely based on the letter he sent the parents of the kid who he ate. That shit was chilling. He also had 20+needles in his ballsack that shorted out his electric chair.

Tsutomo Miyazaki gets my vote. I mean, Albert Fish is good, he is good. BUT he's not a serial killer.
