The Deciblog makes it a point to watch the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC every night because no one kicks more ass or delivers more political truthiness than Maddow. Also, she is really really really foxy. Also, she likes to drink old-timey cocktails. Also, she has thrown the horns on-air when reporting a story about "Heavy Metal in Baghdad." And last night, Maddow completely geeked out over her love for Metallica before interviewing Lars Ulrich, who just so happens to be a fan of the Rachel Maddow Show much to the foxy pundit's surprise.

As a prelude to the interview, Maddow excitedly whipped out her cell phone to play her ringtone for the viewing audience—the intro riff to "Enter Sandman." Less impressive was the winter scarf Ulrich wore during the interview. Among the topics Maddow discussed with the drummer: the use of Metallica music to extract information from political detainees, what makes San Francisco awesome, and whether or not Guitar Hero is cool. Maddow kept the angle mostly political, though you could totally see her suppressing the urge to blast "Master of Puppets" and rock the fuck out.

Dear Rachel, if you ever want to rock the fuck out, we at the Deciblog will happily jam some Metallica tunes with you on invisible instruments. Also, if you could provide us with an appropriate cocktail for each Metallica album, we will post it on this site and dub thee The Most Bitchin' Metal Newsperson in The History of Ever. We'll even spring for a plaque so you can hang it in your office.

According to Metal-Archives, there are 216 Norwegian death metal bands, all of which probably make Metallica sound like Simon & Garfunkel or some more tame act.

Simon & Garfunkel were not tame! Harmonized vokills ist kreig. Creed is tame. Nickelback (who incidentally cover Metallica) is tame. Joni Mitchell would have punched Scott Stapp right in his quivering cunt, and bitch slapped Mandibles the cowardly Lion from Nickelback. Peter Simon could have you killed.
