Heavy Metal Pottery
Posted March 18 by Jeanne F.

Sacre bleu! These masterfully fugly decorative pieces by Pierre Blanc deserve a place of honor in the home of every discerning headbanger. The shtick is simple enough—Mr. Blanc takes old-timey vases and desecrates them with band logos. It’s like Bon Scott rubbed his crotch on a copy of House Beautiful and magic happened. C’est magnifique!
There’s AC/DC on a giant ceramic boot, the Misfits fiend club logo on a rosy vase, Metallica emblazoned on a bulbous pink monstrosity (Kirk Hammett has this one on his mantle sandwiched between his Grammys and an autographed picture of Vidal Sassoon), and more. Being that these pieces are considered art, they’ll set you back around $400 for the cheaper stuff, which is ludicrous considered any metalhead with ample art skills can raid their grandma’s tea set and get busy with a Sharpie. Which gives us an idea. Deciblog readers, break out your Photoshop smarts and create some heavy metal pottery of your own. A Deicide bedpan, Pantera hookah, Motorhead spittoon—go wild. Bonus points if you put the Decibel logo on something with cherubs and roses.
